I’ve fallen for autumn.

There’s no getting away from it, with the decidedly chilly feel to the air and darker evenings, autumn is well and truly here.

At this time of year we instinctively look to spend more time indoors, (I like to think we’re sort-of hibernating) 🙂 But don’t despair, here are my favourite design ideas to make your interiors somewhere you’ll love to relax in this season.

A riot of colour.

Autumn is a time of the year that brings drama and colour to our outdoor environment. Like nature’s very own fireworks display with vibrant colours ranging from molasses browns and russet tones through to fiery reds, warming oranges and yellows. Using one or more of these colours as your inspiration for a lounge room helps to bring the outdoors in, (without the muddy boots).

All that glitters

I’m finding more and more customers asking for rose gold pieces in their schemes over the last few months and this rich, elegant choice can add an instant air of elegance and refinement without sacrificing the feeling of warmth.

Cosy up,

What’s nicer on a chilly autumn day than, watching the seasonal storms blow outside while your all cosy inside relaxing with a scrumptious mug of hot chocolate? Well how about bringing some of those deep chocolatey tones into your room? From earthy rust fabrics to dark mocha toned pieces using a mixture of soft velvety fabrics and deeper textures to add depth and contrast.

Snuggle up buttercup!

I can’t go before adding in one of my favourites, using layers of fabulous faux-fur is the perfect way to shake off those seasonal blues. Gorgeously tactile these fun fabrics are perfect to add a real feeling of luxury and warmth to lounge rooms, and bedrooms or used sparingly as cushions faux-fur creates contrast and definition to sun rooms and conservatories. I am never far away from some gorgeous faux fur, it’s like my room giving me a big snuggly hug 🙂
